Three parts, one band
Viking lists the two pumps as separate parts: one empties the tub, the other throws water up through the spray arms. A worn drain pump tends to leave water standing in the bottom after a cycle, or hums and grinds as it tries to empty. A failing circulation pump fills the tub normally and still sends dishes out dirty.
The control is the third. On some newer Viking dishwashers the main board and the display board are separate, so a machine that lights up but will not run has both checked before either is replaced.
